The workers have gone home and tidied up leaving a clear expanse of concrete ready for the next stage of construction; electrical fitting and floor painting are among the next jobs to be done.

The entrance annexe, also with newly concreted floor. The next job here is to build some blockwork walls to separate this area off from the main exhibition hall, and to create an area for toilets.

The main exhibition hall is temporaily being used as a work area to repair the roof of the civils gang's mess van, which is shown here, stripped down. The ladder in the background is being used to paint the last remaining section of green cladding to match the rest of the building.

Martyn Knight is applying a second coat of green undercoat to the outside of the historic WHR Buffet Car.

The high standard of finish is obvious in the smooth shine on the new coat of paint.

The Buffet Car is currently encased in a protective tent, to make painting easier in the cold weather. It doesn't make taking pictures easier though...... but hopefully this one gives an idea of the work in progress.

One end of the Buffet Car interior has now been treated with the wood effect oil paint, known as scumble. The rest of the interior (shown in base yellow colour in the previous photograph) will soon be painted to match.

Bagnall 0-4-2T Gelert has moved into the locomotive repair shed for winter maintenance.

The January gloom means the lights are on in the RED shed and it's not even four o'clock in the afternoon. Hunslet diesel locomotive Emma is inside.

Andy Blackwell performs some routine maintenance on Hunslet diesel locomotive Emma, filling up the hydraulic system with fresh oil.

Mark Seale and his wife Hazel perform some routine maintenance on their one sixth scale model of a male class human being. The model was completed recently after nine months of hard work by Hazel. It's named Alec, though nameplates are not currently carried.

The builders have arrived. Materials are stacked in the site of the entrance annexe, ready for construction of the blockwork to form the interior walls.

Looking like a large game of chess, the blocks await the start of work on the new section of the building.

The framework of a replica NWNGR brake van is now taking shape in the wagon repair road of the Carriage Shops.

Metalwork for the carriage body is in preparation; this is a selection of window bars and brackets to hold the outside steps.

Doors have also started being hung on the original WHR Buffet Car, starting with this one at the Porthmadog (third class) end.

The blockwork for the internal walls in the new museum building is steadily rising and had reached several courses when this picture was taken.

Outside the museum, the new entrance ramp is being paved. James Hewett and Pete Jenks lift one of the paving slabs into place.
